Our annual tournament has steadily improved in membership and community involvement, to a new level of fund raising importance. Over 140 golfers played in the fall tournament at Desert Canyon. Most importantly, local business’s made financial contributions as players, sponsors, patrons, or made donations of raffle or silent auction items. The success of the Tournament was achieved by the dedication of the many Post Golf Committee members who worked tirelessly and contributed hundreds of hours to the Tournament. |

Our Post Beer Gardens participates in two Art Fairs sponsored by the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce and are major fund raising events. The popular Beer Gardens are located overlooking the lake and serve a large number of the approximately 200,000 Fair attendees. The Post also participates in the St. Patrick’s Day celebration sponsored by the Town and the Chamber at Fountain Park. The Plaza Fountainside Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by the Plaza Fountainside merchants also benefits our post. As a charter member of the International Chili Society, our Post enters as a contestant and provides security for the event. |

Led by Dave Hansen, Jack Erlich, Carlos Alvares and supported by volunteers posted at key businesses around town on Memorial Day, the event was successful in raising over $4500 for needy veterans benefits. Participating in the solicitation were Post members Barney Barnett, Boris Biloskirka, Norm Butler, Dale Broekemier, Earl Clark, Paul Dalman, Bill Foltzer, Dan Foster, Ralph George, Roy Goode, Ted Kubacki, Bob Larson, Walt McCoy, Merritt Miller, Carl Propp, Bob Ricketts, Ed Quinn, Michael Smith, Mo Smith, Ted Sherick, Vic Stout, Bruce Thulien, Ralph Truax, Frank Walters, Don Webb, Larry Wyma. During the event, several local veterans expressed interest in the VFW and provided information about their military service which will be followed up by our membership committee.
